A Miniature Circuit Breaker or MCB is increasingly commonly used instead of a fuse to protect the circuit in a low voltage electrical network. It has several advantages in comparison to a fuse, as it works in any abnormal condition of the electrical circuit, whether due to a fault or a current overload. An MCB is far more sensitive to overcurrent than a fuse, and faster to restore power because it is not a sacrificial system, i.e. it doesn't requiring rewiring or replacement once tripped, only resetting. It is also safer to handle than a typical fuse, and allows easier identification of fault points on the circuit.
The consumption of electrical devices is ever-increasing, together with the resultant demand on electrical systems. In the event of a short-circuit or overload, MCBs cut the connected circuit safely and reliably, offering secure protection against damage to electrical devices and systems. They generally have two different mechanisms, a delayed thermal tripping mechanism providing protection against overloads, and a magnetic tripping mechanism protecting against short circuits.

They are uniformly designed, and come with a range of accessories which can expand to include additional functions, making them ideal for all kinds of application.
