A Push Button is a basic electric switching mechanism for controlling some element of a process or machine, usually produced in a hard material like metal or plastic. The surface is typically shaped for purpose, so that most buttons are slightly concave in order to accommodate a human finger, while buttons to be pulled are generally mushroom-shaped.
Push Buttons are designed for the momentary action of making or breaking a circuit when pressed or activated. Momentary Pushbuttons return to their original position once the button has been released, Rowse Automation also stock a range of latching pushbuttons that maintain their position once released.
Pushbuttons is a generalised term for signalling and control devices that come in a variety of different designs such as Selector Switches, Key Switches, Emergency Stops and Twin Pushbuttons. A Pushbutton consists of the actuating or indicating element along with the switching contact block. Switching contact blocks are available in NO type (Normally Open) and the NC type (Normally Closed) and mount to the rear of the actuator. Pushbutton switches can also be illuminated or non-illuminated, illuminated pushbuttons consist of the light source and the contact elements.
A NO button is used for turning a circuit on or giving a positive signal, the NC button is used to break a circuit.
